Why USC?

I decided to attend the University of South Carolina (USC) because of their strong business program and because my friend and classmate from India had been studying here. I wanted to study in the United States because you get the best education in America. I had to convince my mom, but I knew I had to do it for my career. And my career is for my family. Now that I’m here, I would tell other students to come to USC for the football games, the professors, the fun classes and the city – the area is so pretty and clean!

USC IAP Experience

I really love the International Accelerator Program (IAP) team! Although I don’t usually open up or talk to people easily, with this team, it’s so easy for me to open up and talk to any of the advisors. Even the staff who aren’t my advisors are so sweet and help me with any issues I have. I feel really good to be a part of this team. I keep telling my friends back home, “Come to USC! Come to the IAP!”

Classes at USC

I enjoy the classes I’m taking — I can really say that about this university. In India, the teachers mostly dictate notes and you write, so it can be boring. Here, my classes are more interactive, more interesting and I actually enjoy being there. The professors ask questions and you get to participate in discussion. Even though I don’t like science, chemistry is now my favorite class because of the way my professor teaches. I’ve actually started liking chemistry!

One Last Thought…

Before I even arrived on campus I was part of the Global Navigator Mentoring Program. It felt good to talk to someone and get to know the place that would be my home for the next four years. My mentor was so patient and so fun to talk to; she helped me with all my doubts. We talked about four or five times before I arrived in Columbia. It was so good to know someone who is already at the university before I even got here.
